Only one job being generated = only one dwarf collecting food in a barrel = food production outpacing food storage. The best thing to do is to split the single stockpile into many smaller ones; that way, more than one dwarf will be hauling food at a time. But practically speaking it can be easier and faster to simply fill a minecart with magma and have a dwarf carry it where its needed.
