Web1 dec. 2003 · Layered manufacturing (LM) or rapid prototyping is a process in which a part is produced using layer‐by‐layer addition of the material. In LM, slicing of the CAD model of a part to be produced is one of the important steps. Slicing of CAD model with a very small slice thickness leads to large build time. WebModern chips can have up to 100 layers, which all need to align on top of each other with nanometer precision (called 'overlay'). The size of the features printed on the chip varies depending on the layer, which means that different types of lithography systems are used for different layers.
