Optical beam propagation in biaxial crystals

WebPhysics Journal of Optics We present a formalism able to predict the transformation of light beams passing through biaxial crystals. We use this formalism to show both theoretically and experimentally the transition from double refraction to conical refraction, which is found when light propagates along one of the optic axes of a biaxial crystal. http://www2.optics.rochester.edu/workgroups/lukishova/QuantumOpticsLab/homepage/Lecture_Phase_Matching-Sept_27_2010.ppt

WebJan 1, 2013 · As shown previously, the propagation of a Bessel light beam along the optical axes of a biaxial crystal results in conversion of the order of a Bessel function. The Bessel beam changes its order by one due to the effect of the crystal anisotropy, which results in the generation of a vortex beam. In this work we demonstrate a simple derivation ... WebIt illustrates the detection of singularities obtained when a white-light beam propagates along either of the two optical axes of a biaxial crystal placed between the matched polarizer P1 and analyzer P2 ().The zeros of amplitude are detected by the “forks” in the interference pattern, cf.
